Commercial Aerospace
Hexcel is a world leader in the manufacture of advanced
composites that meet the demands of the growing aerospace market. Hexcel
materials play a major role in the construction of virtually every flying
machine, offering a complete range of Fibre Reinforced Matrix technologies to
the industry, from Prepreg, with tow and multiaxial fabric options, to RTM, RFI
and moulding compounds. Hexcel is the only composites supplier that supplies
this wide range of FRM technologies together with an extensive range of
honeycomb, adhesives and engineered products.
Space and Defense
The Space and Defense markets have historically been
innovators in the use of advanced structural materials. Advanced structural
materials played a major role in the development of stealth technologies
for military aircraft, and are enabling technologies for the airframes of
modern military aircraft. Today, Space and Defense are important markets for
Hexcel, that encompass not only military aircraft, but also launch
vehicles for spacecraft and satellites themselves.
Ground Transportation
From automobiles
to trains, all benefit from
Hexcel materials. Automotive applications include prepregs with excellent
surface finish for body structures; and energy absorbing prepregs for
leafsprings. The product range continues to evolve adding surface film and
higher temperature resins.
In the rail industry Hexcel’s flame-retardant prepregs enable lightweight
structures to meet the exacting regulations including the new European
standards.
Marine
Hexcel has decades of experience supplying composites to the
winning competition yachts. Materials include Hexcel HexTow™ carbon fibres
IM7 and IM9 specifically adapted to marine. NC2® non crimp fabrics are being
used in competition boats along with balanced 200gr reinforcements.
Sports and Recreation
From Skis and Snowboards to Tennis Racquets, golf shafts,
hockey sticks and racing bikes. All benefit from Hexcel’s high performance
lightweight composite materials.
Tooling
Hexcel’s innovative HexTOOL™ tooling material, enables
machinable, yet dimensionally stable composite mold tools to be manufactured
for the first time.
Wind Energy
Hexcel introduced prepregs to the wind turbine industry over
15 years ago. Composites have enabled blade sizes to grow to today's
giant proportions, making wind power the world's fastest growing energy source.
General Industry
Hexcel continues to develop products adapted to a range of
industries including offshore nuclear power, pressure vessel and investment in
new energy sources.
