Redux® 319A Film Adhesive
For rapid magnet bonding in electric motors

The number of power-driven features supplied as standard or optional in today’s automobiles is impressive. For the impression to last, the electric motors that power these features have to be reliable and affordable.

Redux® adhesives make an important contribution to the reliability of the components, and their affordability. Redux® 319A is used to bond solid ferrite stator magnets to the steel casing of motors. High strength, excellent gap filling, rapid curing and ease of handling in automatic mass production all help to make Redux® 319A the ideal adhesive for this application.

Redux® 319A delivers excellent performance under a variety of operating conditions, at temperatures ranging from -55°C to 150°C/-67°F to 300°F. For a short duration it even withstands temperatures up to 175°C/350°C. The adhesive provides outstanding environmental resistance and is durable, meeting the design life of any motor.

Redux® adhesives can be supplied slit to the required width for ease of processing.

The optimum cure cycle for Redux® 319A is 60 minutes at 175°C/350°F.
For magnet bonding a rapid cure cycle of 40 seconds at 275°C/530°F is preferred.

The Assembly Process

Assembling electrical motor components with Redux® 319A requires a simple automatic lay-up for the magnet and the tooling mandrel. For large volume throughput, proven induction heating can speed up the cure. Redux® 319A facilitates automatic in-line testing, which makes for a more consistent, safe and secure assembly of the magnets, that are susceptible to damage. The reduction in the number of processing operations reduces production costs. Tooling costs are also minimised, and the clean process ensures consistent reliability and quality.
