Hexcel Composites Ltd • Duxford, Cambridge CB22 4QD, United Kingdom • Telephone +44 (0)1223 833141

DUXFORD, CAMBRIDGE, UK — June 8, 2009 -- Hexcel Corporation (NYSE: HXL) today announced it has been recognized by Vestas Blades as the 2008 “Supplier of the Year” at the Vestas Annual Supplier conference on June 2nd 2009.  Hexcel received the award for consistent performance in quality, innovation and delivery of composite materials for wind blade manufacture.   The award was presented to Hexcel Vice President of Operations, Andrea Domenichini, by Ole Kristensen, Senior VP Supply Chain Management at Vestas Blades.

Vestas developed their supplier award program to acknowledge and reward the performance of suppliers during the previous year.  Four supplier of the year awards are granted as part of the program, one by each Vestas Production Business Unit.  Key parameters that influence the selection of award recipient are delivery and quality performance, innovation and product development ability, flexibility, continuous improvement and extraordinary efforts.

Hexcel has supplied composite materials to Vestas for wind blade production for over 15 years when the two companies pioneered the development and use of prepreg (fiber-reinforced resin systems) in wind blades.  The use of composites in wind energy has enabled blades to grow to today’s giant proportions due to the high strength to weight ratio and supreme stiffness and longevity provided by the materials.
