Asian Composites Manufacturing Sdn, Bhd. (ACM)

A strategic alliance between Malaysian companies – Sime Darby Bhd and Naluri Bhd and its U.S. partners, Hexcel and Boeing.  ACM became Hexcel and Boeing qualified in the spring of 2001.  ACM utilizes lean manufacturing principles to maximize operation efficiencies. Continuous improvement and Kaizen workshops are conducted bi-monthly focusing on reducing waste in all areas to keep composite fabrication costs to an absolute minimum.

  

Facility:  24,000 m² (258,000 ft²); 276 employees; 1 US expatriate

>  Autoclaves – 3 each, 3.6m x 9.2m (12’ x 30’) 100 psig & 500ºF
>  Ovens – 2 each, 3.2m x 6.3m  (10.5’ x  20.5’) 350ºF
>  Waterjet Trim Machines:  2.5 axis Flow Shape Cutter, 3.35m x 4.27m  (11’ x 14’)
>  CNC Router:  5 axis Thermwood Model 67, 3.15m x 2.7m x 0.9m (10’ x  9’ x 1’)
>  Prepreg Cutting – 2 each, 2.0m x 18.2m  (6.5’ x 60’) Gerber DCS 2500
>  NDT – 2+ axis, HUSS, 8.5m x 3.0m x 0.15m (28’ x 10’ x 0.5’)
>  Other – 2 core chamfer saws, 1 core block saw  5 environmental control booths
