In all composite applications - and in most industrial applications - fabrics are used in combination with a matrix resin or other type of coating.  To aid compatibility and adhesion a finish or post treatment is typically applied to obtain optimal performance characteristics.

In glass, after weaving, a heat cleaning process removes all original binder and lubricants, leaving virtually pure glass. At this stage the appropriate finish is applied to the fabric. Hexcel offers a wide range of standard and advanced finishes designed to enhance the glass to resin interface.
