Dagneux is located near Lyon, capital of Gaul in Roman times and a major centre of culture and commerce during the Renaissance. A major area for industrial growth in the 19th century, Lyon has become an important European metropolis, situated at the crossroads of Europe.
Hexcel's site at Dagneux has been established since 1974 to manufacture prepregs by impregnating engineered fabrics with a formulated resin. In addition to the manufacturing plant (prepreg, HexMC® and RTM resin systems) the Dagneux site is home to a Hexcel Composites R&T Group, contributing to the development of products and processes for new applications and markets.
Prepreg production at the site began with helicopter applications including blades, the Starflex rotor and Ecureuil helicopter parts. HexPly® M10 epoxy prepreg was used for non-aerospace applications such as boat hulls, submarine decks and wind energy blades.
One of the most exciting current projects is the A380 aircraft. Currently 80 per cent of Dagneux's output is sold in France for civil and military aerospace applications.
