Hexcel will provide an overview of carbon fibers with a specific focus on our broad product line and technologies. This webinar covers a brief history of the carbon fiber industry and some basic terms related to carbon fiber technology. We will review the PAN and carbon fiber manufacturing process and present the range of carbon fiber products available in the marketplace and more specifically from Hexcel. This webinar will cover the characteristics and attributes of carbon fibers and carbon fiber composites to show why they are widely used in such a broad range of applications as well as the technology trends and the future outlook for carbon fiber market development.

About the Presenters

Cary Martin Hexcel Global Research and Technology Director - Carbon Fibers
Cary has been with Hexcel for more than 20 years and has spent his entire career in the development and application of carbon fibers and their composites. He has direct experience across the entire composite technology chain from the details of monomer and polymer synthesis to on-wing field inspection of commercial aircraft parts. Cary has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate from the University of Washington.

Tom Haulik – Hexcel Sales Director - Carbon Fibers
Tom has been with Hexcel for more than 10 years leading the sales efforts for the Carbon Fibers business. He has nearly 40 years of carbon fiber industry experience. Prior to joining Hexcel, Tom held roles in Sales & Marketing with Sigmatex and with Cytec Carbon Fibers and its predecessor companies BP Amoco and Union Carbide Corporation. Tom is also active with composites industry associations. He has held numerous committee and leadership roles within organizations such as SAMPE, ACMA, CAMX and NCTO. Tom has a degree in industrial engineering from Penn State University.
