Hexcel is exhibiting at this year’s MAKS Air Show, taking place August 16 to 21 in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region, Russia. On Hexcel’s stand No B8a in Hall F3 promotions will showcase carbon fiber and composite materials for civil aircraft. Products being promoted includeg HexPly® 8552 and M21 prepregs for aircraft structures, HexFlow® RTM6 Resins for Resin Transfer Molding, HexWeb® honeycombs for sandwich constructions and Engineered Core.
Hexcel will also be displaying a longeron for the TU-204SM twin-engined mid-range jet airliner, designed by Tupolev and manufactured by Aviastar SP and Kazan Aircraft Production Association. The longeron for the aircraft wing is manufactured using HexPly® 8552 UD epoxy prepreg reinforced with HexTow® AS4 carbon fibers. The Tu-204SM performed its first flight in December 2010.
During the airshow week, Hexcel is also hosting a technical seminar to be attended by Russian aerospace industry professionals including design engineers and material specifiers. The seminar will feature presentations on Hexcel’s composite technologies for aircraft programs and will include presentations by guest speakers from Tupolev, Irkut and Aerocomposit on the use of Hexcel prepregs in the Tu-204 and MS21 programs.
Hexcel opened its new sales office in Moscow on 1st June 2011 to support the growing demand for composites in Russia and to enhance the efficiency of service to customers.
