Hexcel's Parla plant is located 15 miles (25 kilometres) south of central Madrid. An area of contrasts, Madrid, with a population of 6.5 million, is a cultural and historic center that bustles with energy, day and night - yet the community of Madrid retains some remarkably unspoiled and diverse habitats and landscapes, including mountain peaks rising above 6,500 feet (2,000m).
Formerly part of the Hercules Corporation, the Parla site was acquired by Hexcel in 1996. The plant's construction began in 1987, with the first batch of material manufactured in 1989. The site consists of an office building and two manufacturing buildings.
The Parla site manufactures epoxy prepregs using carbon (UD and fabrics), glass and other fibers. Parla's prepregs are sold to the aerospace industry and are certified for more than 20 different aerospace programs.
