Hexcel to Exhibit at SAMPE Conference in Indianapolis

Hexcel Corporation, a global leader in advanced lightweight composites technology, is pleased to announce its participation in SAMPE 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana, May 19-22 at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Hexcel will showcase its latest innovations in composite materials, including HexPly® prepregs, HexTow® carbon fiber, and HexWeb® honeycomb core materials used in commercial aerospace, defense, space, and industrial markets.

Hexcel invites visitors to meet with our experts at booth M8 to discuss how advanced composite materials can be suited to meet the needs of a wide variety of customer applications.

Hexcel and Specialty Materials to Introduce New High Modulus, High Compression Unidirectional Prepreg

Hexcel and Specialty Materials are proud to introduce a new high modulus, high compression unidirectional prepreg infused with boron fiber, targeted for advanced military applications. This innovative Hy-Bor® technology pairs Hexcel’s high modulus carbon fiber with boron fiber, significantly enhancing compression strength and offering a new class of materials for airframe manufacturers and other defense applications.

“This new material offers substantial weight savings and design flexibility, opening up a range of applications for commercial aviation, as well as for space and defense applications, including aircraft, satellites, and missile systems,” said Imad Atallah, Vice President - Product Management, Fibers, Reinforcement & Matrix, Hexcel. “The technology mitigates the traditional drop in compression strength associated with high modulus fibers, providing enhanced capabilities that our Department of Defense customers are demanding for next generation platforms.”

Speakers at SAMPE

Hexcel and industry experts will present several technical sessions during the SAMPE conference related to Hexcel advanced lightweight material solutions:

•Robert Yancey, Business Development Director at Hexcel Corporation, will present "Composite Design, Manufacturing, and Standards for Bicycles" on Wednesday, May 21, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM in Room 127. This session will review manufacturing defects, quality control, and standards for the cycling industry.

•Caleb Saathoff, Sr. Engineering Manager at the National Institute for Aviation Research, will present "Material Qualification Testing of Hexcel HexWeb® HRH-10 Aramid Fiber/Phenolic Resin Honeycomb Core" on Wednesday, May 21, from 10:30 AM to 10:55 AM in Room 121. This session will review the standardized qualification framework for core materials developed in collaboration with industry experts.

•Matthew Warner, Research Chemist at Hexcel, will discuss "Development of a Commercial Aircraft co-curable Surfacing Film with Improved UVA-Resistance" on Wednesday, May 21, from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM in Room 123. This session will highlight innovations to improve UV resistance in surfacing films for aircraft composite structures.

•Sanjay Sharma, Technical Fellow at Hexcel, will discuss "A Model Based Accelerated RTM Process Design for Optimal Performance" on Wednesday, May 21, from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM in Room 122. This session will explore a multi-physics model-based development of an accelerated RTM process design for low permeability fiber reinforcement.
